Central Theme: International Law and New Technologies

The Brazilian Academy of International Law and the Brazilian Society of International Law invite researchers, faculty members, and professionals in the field of International Law to submit abstracts for presentation (in-person or virtual) at the 24th Brazilian Congress of International Law, to be held in Brazil from August 26 to 29, 2026, in the city of Vitória – Espírito Santo. Held continuously for 24 years, always under the auspices of Brazil’s leading research and higher education institutions, the event is the most important in the field of International Law in Brazil and the largest in the Global South, bringing together researchers from different countries

This edition proposes a critical reflection on the normative transformations resulting from the accelerated incorporation of emerging technologies.
Submitted papers should address the question:
What is the role of new technologies in the development, reformulation, and expansion of International Law?
Papers must propose an innovative and reflective approach to Public, Private, and Trade International Law, considering the following thematic axes:

  1. Emerging technologies and the reconfiguration of International Relations;
  2. Regulatory challenges of AI, data governance, biotechnology, surveillance, quantum computing, and autonomous systems;
  3. Impacts of new technologies on the formulation, interpretation, and application of International Law;
  4. New technologies and their impacts on the theoretical structure of the international legal system.
